"I can confidently say to you that you will live to see a black man or woman take the oval office as president of the United State" – Dr. Louis Sullivan
He said this in his commencement speech to the graduating class of 1989 from Jackson State University. Dr. Sullivan was the then the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
I guess you can sometimes see into the future. Almost 19 years since that speech – November 4th, 2008 America elects it’s first African American president – Obama as it’s 44th president.
But it took more than 200 years to get a minority president.
