Dec 31st
10:00 pm
The New Year midnight mass at the parish church was scheduled at 10:00 pm. I reach the church a little before that time and decide to spend time talking with old friends and acquaintance. A little into the mass, I start to feel pain in my right chest area. I ignore the pain thinking it is just some other random pain.
11:00 pm
The pain is now increasing and appears in rhythmic cycle. I am now getting a little concerned.
Jan 1st
00:30 am
The pain is now unbearable. I am having difficulty breathing and talking. I struggle waiting for the mass to finish and I rush to my dad and ask him to take me to the doctor.
01:00 am
I was rushed to the intensive care unit and nurses hook me up to all sorts of gadgets and soon enough I can hear my heart ‘beep’. The doctor makes an initial diagnosis as a bad case of heart burn and latter confirms it.
02:30 am
We go back home with me feeling a little better and happy with the thought that it could have been worse.
Cost of medicines – $3.81
Cost of hospital visit – $11.45
Cost of the heart burn – Painful, very painful
Since I started my new year at the hospital, I think I have completed my quota of health problems. I am looking forward to brand new year of excellent health!
Hey Binoy –
Happy New Year!! I am so sorry to hear about your severe case of heartburn – that can be so painful!! But here’s to a year of great health for you. Enjoy the rest of your stay in India and please try not to have any more emergency visits to the hospital!!
I can’t wait to hear all about your trip!
Take care,
Kelly

Take care! I didn’t know about heartburns so read up on wikipedia – does seem to be a very painful thing.
BTW I like your take on this – completing the quota of health problems.
I’m going to keep the same view since 1st was kind of a so-so day for me – hopefully I’m done with my quota of so-so days.
So here’s wishing you a Happy New Year!
