The weather is so romantic…

Wednesday, July 26th, 2006

It had been raining since morning and the rains just stopped a few minutes ago. The sky is still overcast and the sunlight is diffusing thru the cloud cover. The ground is very wet and all the plant life is looking so fresh and so green. It is not too hot or humid, the temperature is just right.

I going to get my hot cup of coffee but I would rather have a hot cup of ‘cutting chai’ (it is like having shots of tea!) and ‘garam pakora’!

I love the monsoons back home!!

Some weeks ago I was at Pittsburg for [info]nvivek’s graduation. Over there I got to do the classic move of my martial art hero – Bruce Lee.

Vivek also was also kind enough to do the traditional throwing of the cap after the graduation!

Bangalore calling!

Wednesday, July 19th, 2006

Today at around 4:00 pm I get a call from one Mr. Alex from Bangalore and here is how the phone conversation happened.

The office phone rings. I look at the incoming call’s number – External. This is usually true for all calls originating outside the campus.

Myself – Web support, this is Binoy
Alex – Hello, Good evening. This is Alex. I am calling to find out if you would like to do business with us. We can take care of all your IT related activities. We have excellent facilities at our Bangalore center and we are in a position to provide you with the highest quality… (All this is spoken in ‘American’ accent. He was pretty good but his pronunciation of ‘facilities’ gave him away. Mention of Bangalore center confirmed his ruse)
Myself – So what is this about?
Alex – Do you want to outsource your IT related processes?
Myself – No yaar! I don’t want to lose my job!!
Alex – Thank you. (Line gets disconnected abruptly….)

The world is definitely flat! Resistance is futile!!
