Glimpse of Heaven!
Weekend #1 April 7, 8, 9
I went on a retreat organized by the Campus Catholic Center. It was a peer led 3 day retreat and main theme of the retreat was Koinania (Community in Greek). I had an awesome time during the retreat. We had talks, singing, prayer sessions, activities and lots of fun. During one of the activities, I felt happiness with such intensity that I thought I had a glimpse of heaven! I came back from the retreat with lots of new friends and a foretaste of what heaven would be like!
Happy Easter!
Weekend #2 April 14, 15, 16
For this year’s Easter vigil mass, I went to the Peoria Diocese’s cathedral. The cathedral architecture was magnificent and looked very pretty from the inside. The mass itself was very elaborate with Knights of Columbus providing the guard, Bishop of Peoria being the main celebrant, lots of priests and servers. Another interesting aspect of the mass was the number of languages used – four in all – English, Spanish, Latin and Greek!
It’s a small world!
Weekend #3 April 21, 22, 23
It is becoming easier to meet people here in US than in India! Four of my undergraduate decided to meet up during that weekend and we had a good time catching up with each other.
Bachelor party!
Weekend #4, April 28, 29, 30
My good friend Sesha is all set to get married and we decided to give him a bachelor party. We had a great time! Neither Sesha nor we will ever forget that party. I cannot go in the details of the party due the oath of secrecy that we took that day!
Rendezvous Pankaj!
Weekend #5, May 5, 6, 7
This past weekend, I went to Palatine, IL to meet up with
jangid. We had a good time catching up; it’s been almost 5 years since we last saw each other. Good times! Again it’s getting easier to meet people in US than in India! We had dinner at Hot Wok Village. Pankaj has posted a few pictures from that day.

Posted by maniyard | May 9, 2006, 1:44 amIt was really nice meeting Binoy after such a long period. Though we couldn’t meet when Binoy came to India. The dinner reminded me of Alibaba of Vashi station. Same taste.

I don’t know if Neo chose Hot Wok Village, but he treated me and Ariane in an Indian restaurant at Devon Avenue and arguably that was one of the most delicious Indian cuisines I had outside India. Our Neo has good sense of food.
Posted by maniyard | May 11, 2006, 5:12 amAahhh, didn’t expect this from you. Teleport. It’s Neo, lol.
Posted by maniyard | May 11, 2006, 5:14 amYes. He told me before hand that I will feel like mumbai. Yes someone told me that Devon is like mini India only. You will find everything like samosa, kachori etc. Most people there are from either India or Pakistan.
Posted by jangid | May 11, 2006, 9:16 amMy bad! But then, he’s got mere mortals coming with him, so I may be right after all
