Finally it feels like spring.
This is how the weather looks now
This is how the weather looked last week and much of early this week.
Arepa, Carimañola, Buñuelo
A few weeks ago I had an opportunity to enjoy some traditional Columbian breakfast. The food was very delicious and I took more than two servings for each of the dishes. Since I could not remember the names of the dishes, I asked my friend and host to refresh my memory. Here is the description of the dishes from the cook and host and my friend:
“Arepa is any kind of flat round shaped food made out of corn flour…so since that one had an egg inside it is called “arepa de huevo”. That’s the yellow one at the bottom. Huevo is egg in Spanish.
Carimañola is the one on the left. It is made out of yucca, cassava or tapioca (I think they all are different names for the same) and it has ground beef on the inside.
Buñuelo is any kind of spherical food. It can be made out of different ingredients. This one is made out of black eyed peas so it is called “Buñuelo de Frijol”. Frijol is bean in spanish”
Teleportation is a fascinating idea in the realm of science fiction but more recently experiments at California Institute of Technology showed that teleportation is possible although at the quantum level. So though we are many years away from teleportation aka Star trek style, we are definitely making some progress.
Today in the morning as I walking towards my car, I could not but notice how nice the weather was – it was a little cold, the ground was moist, the sky was over cast and the chirping of birds. Almost like the weather we get after a short spell of rains during the monsoons. I was teleported to this idyllic country road in a small nondescript village in Kerala, India. Everything was the same weather wise except that there were more greenery and lots of coconut trees. My mind was becoming calmer and refreshed, as I was getting settled into enjoying the slow paced walk.
But as if like a glitch in the teleporting machine, I found myself standing near the door of my car and my pleasant walk had some how come to an abrupt end. I got into my car and started the engine which came alive instantaneously. As I was shifting the gear and getting the car moving, I noticed that I was certainly calmer than usual days. So maybe I was really teleported or maybe I was just day dreaming but the effect on the mind was almost the same – I was calmer.
So while the theoretical physicist are still grappling with the fundamental problems involved in teleportation, you my friend – can simply fasten the seat belts in your mind and go for a ride. Teleportation is here!
I have not updated in while and I am hoping this entry will get me back to updating the journal on a regular basis!
Kelly!
It is cool how our birthday’s are just two weeks apart. During my birthday the song that kept coming to my mind was the song by Bryan Adams – 18 till I die. And for your birthday today, I wish the same song.
I wanna be young the rest of my life, never say no – try anything twice
til the angels come and ask me to fly, I’m gonna be 18 til I die – 18 til I die…
Wish you the very best in life! Happy birthday!!
