Head on collision + walk away without a scratch = God exists
My friend Sesha walked away from this crash.

Pricey car + picture of yourself with car = Heavenly feeling
I had this picture taken when I was at a mall near Chicago. The Bentley Continental GT looks very grand and impressive. Some day…

3 new tires + wheel balancing = Current account – $320
Three of my car tires are worn out and needs to be replaced before we have our first serious snow fall.

Some ISA students + 20 minutes + 4 days of preparation = Awesome show
At ISU we had this year’s gala night and the ISA put up an impressive show.

T-9 days = Excitement + anxiety
That’s right just nine days left for me to hop on the flight and hitch a ride home – home away from home.

Tale of two letters.

Monday, November 7th, 2005

Exactly six months before November 06th, [info]parineeta and I, wrote individual letters addressed ourselves. We exchanged the letters, Parineeta gave me her letter and I gave her, my letter.

During that time we were both going through emotionally turbulent times and after much debate between our heart and the mind, we both had become quite weary. So we decide to use some concepts from positive visualizations. We both took a piece of paper and spelled out our heart’s desire. We used the present tense in our sentences as if we had received what we had desired! Then we sealed our desires in an envelope with our signatures and the dates. We exchanged the envelopes and decided we would open the envelope after six months and see how things were as far as our wishes were concerned. This was our modest attempt to realize our desires by means of positive visualizations.

Writing our desires on a piece of paper had immediate results; we stopped worrying about the future, this brought some peace of mind. We also stopped playing the role of referee between our heart and mind and let life course through its path, this helped us act naturally and decide free heartedly.

This past Sunday was the ordained day to open the envelope! Alas the only thing that turned true about the envelope was the date when it would be opened!! The reality was that none of us got what we had desired six months ago. Nothing that we wrote on the paper has come true. When I look back at these past six months, I can see clearly how life takes its twists and turns, some of which are quite unexpected. At times I was close to what I wanted and other times I was far away. And when I thought finally things appeared to have settled – poof! gone!! out of grasp!!!

So much for positive visualizations and writing down your heart’s desire. Though I am angry now because my heart’s desire never materialized, I am very sure that the dots will connect in future. It always does and then I will realize how silly I have been to wish for these things.

Till that day, I should keep in mind the song – Unanswered prayers by Garth Brooks.
