The Magic Mirror
In my apartment we have a full length mirror. We had got this mirror from Walmart for about $4.00 when me and my roommates moved into this apartment sometime during August 2004. The mirror by itself is just another mirror. But the mirror has a flaw in it – your mirror image appears thinner or leaner than you actually are in real. Now if you have not understood what this implies let me explain a little more. People are always looking for means of appearing better; they want to look good and if this is possible without dieting and exercising even better! Needless to say this mirror became quite popular among the girls in our apartment complex. They would come over to our apartment and just see themselves in that mirror – which would show them a slim and beautiful figure!
So it turned out that the cheap mirror that we bought was actually a precious asset much like those people who buy fake masterpieces and which actually turns out to be the invaluable real masterpieces. We have been receiving threats that the mirror would be stolen by people and also offers from people to buy the mirror at outrageous prices. But we ever not interested and either did we increase the security in our apartment.
And then the inevitable happened. On Saturday, 12th March the mirror was found missing from our apartment. Me and my roommates were too shocked to react! Soon an extensive investigation was launched. We put on our – Sherlock Holmes caps and were following all kinds of leads and clues. To our good fortune the case was cracked in 24 hrs and mirror safely returned to our apartment.
Here is what happened!
Suspended disbelief.
Posted by code_martial | March 22, 2005, 12:10 pmWhat? you do not believe this?
Posted by iamneo | March 22, 2005, 12:46 pmPeople decided to flick your mirror without your knowledge!
Posted by code_martial | March 22, 2005, 12:50 pmYup! and I have to admit it!! nice trick. Actually it is simple. The mirror is in the main hall and our individuals rooms are a litte away from the hall. So you can pick it up when nobody is in the hall. And we do not notice something till we need it and we can’t find it! So thats what happened.
Posted by iamneo | March 22, 2005, 2:05 pmI was just trying to figure out how the room looks like through the mirror !
My Observations and queries :
1) What Wire is running across the room ?
2) 3 (empty) bottles on top of something which looks like a refrigerator, is it a refrigerator ?
3) the room looks empty.. You should have made somebody stand in front of the mirror as a sample for us ..
Posted by aneeta_04 | March 22, 2005, 10:46 pm1) What Wire is running across the room ?
The door to the apartment is kept and held open by means of a bar stool. There is small fan kept on the bar stool and the wire you see is that of the fan. We keep the door open and the fan switched on when we are cooking.
2) 3 (empty) bottles on top of something which looks like a refrigerator, is it a refrigerator ?
Yes it is a refrigerator. There is one empty bottle of that of long nexk mountain dew. The other bottles are half empty bottles of Captain Morgan Spiced Rum and Bacardi Limon.
3) the room looks empty.. You should have made somebody stand in front of the mirror as a sample for us ..
The room is a kitchen that why its empty.
Posted by iamneo | March 22, 2005, 11:17 pmThose look more like whisky bottles or something
Posted by weltanschauungs | March 22, 2005, 11:22 pmThen what, Did u expect feeding bottles at ‘s place.. ?
Posted by aneeta_04 | March 22, 2005, 11:25 pm>> The mirror is in the main hall

Posted by aneeta_04 | March 22, 2005, 11:26 pmThe picture shows the kicthen thru the mirror. The mirror is still in the hall. I was thinking your question why no people were there in the mirror?
Posted by iamneo | March 22, 2005, 11:45 pmFeeding bottles? Not yet… Uska bhi time ayega
Posted by iamneo | March 22, 2005, 11:46 pmConfusing Mirror!

Posted by aneeta_04 | March 22, 2005, 11:54 pmwhy they wanted to replace a mirror when they got similar one from wal mart. Did i miss anything in the story?
Posted by vivekm | March 23, 2005, 1:11 ammay be they didnt get a mirror with a flaw ?
Posted by aneeta_04 | March 23, 2005, 1:45 amHey nice story!
Posted by bhavanar | March 23, 2005, 2:32 amHmmm, makes sense.
Posted by vivekm | March 23, 2005, 12:33 pmsome people are born liars………..and above all men!
well you see the sleight of hand was excellent. The mirror was flicked and that too in Neo’s esteemed presence. He didn’t even realize it.Moreover the idea was to shock him how all that was done inspite of him being in the room. And yes the only way Neo came to know was when me and my accomplice enlightened him about out skillful act.Other than that we also got a nice Breakfast treat!!!! obviously from Neo….So Neo better luck next time.
Posted by parineeta | March 23, 2005, 11:26 pmNow this story sounds more realistic !!
Posted by aneeta_04 | March 26, 2005, 11:16 amgood to see someone wants to be in touch with the REAL WORLD. as for Neo he is still stuck in the MATRIX!
Posted by parineeta | March 26, 2005, 11:21 amOne question – What is real?
It is not stuck in the Matrix it being plugged into the Matrix
Posted by iamneo | March 26, 2005, 5:49 pm>>One question – What is real?
look here
And as for your Matrix Vatteness.. I am happy I am miles away !
Posted by aneeta_04 | March 27, 2005, 11:34 pmNeo, still stuck/plugged in MATRIX ! -> makes little difference to me, bcos fortunately I haven’t seen Matrix and Don’t dare/intend to see after witnessing the aftereffects on
I appreciate the kindness you people have shown to him and keeping him good company over there !
Posted by aneeta_04 | March 28, 2005, 1:58 amYes! you are correct!!
Posted by iamneo | March 28, 2005, 12:04 pmThe answer to what is real was good but not good enough. Infact it was quite shallow. The things are appear simple in life are indeed very complex.
Posted by iamneo | March 28, 2005, 12:05 pmThere are two kinds of people in this world. People who have seen the Matrix and those who haven’t seen. You can choose what you want to see or not see. That does not change the ‘reality’ or the ‘truth’
Posted by iamneo | March 28, 2005, 12:07 pmcan’t believe sumone already got to the mirror before we did! too bad!no there’s gonna be extra security!…..neways…have to come up with a better plan in time!!!
