Midnight express wishes for Sulsa…

Tuesday, March 29th, 2005

Today is my friend Sulsa’s birthday. No she is not yet on Livejournal! Sulsa is [info]parineeta ’s roommate. We meet up at Sulsa’s apartment for dinner at around 10:30 pm. There was delicious idli, sambhar and rice and to wash it all down was the ever refreshing diet coke. After dinner we continued talking till midnight. The topic of conversation ranged from Delhi, Calcutta, Mumbai, Sushmita, Aishwarya…

Shortly after midnight we were joined by rest of our friends and we all sang the traditional ‘happy birthday’ jingle. One of us had downloaded couple of midi files from the internet and these files were also played. Sulsa being a vegan, we had arranged for her – a vegan birthday cake. This was the first time that I had seen and tasted a vegan cake. Except for the peanut butter icing I thought the cake was pretty good tasting (peanut butter is my personal dislike!). Sulsa got her gifts and we got the cake!

We all hung around for some time and then called it a day. I end this post with some few moments from yesterday.

Around the world in 80 minutes…

Thursday, March 10th, 2005

I am forever a fan of technology and constantly impressed by the possibilities presented to us everyday by technology. I have been posting on LJ actively since the past one month. I know a few people from NCST who are members on LJ but there are quite a few others who comment on my posts and I read and comment on their posts. Yesterday I added [info]aneeta_04 to my IM clients and soon enough I catch her online. Now technology enables us to chat across continents and oceans in real time. After a few lines, we exchange our telephone numbers. Once again technology helps to bridge the 9000 something miles. I call her on her cell phone from my cell phone while driving to Walmart to get some groceries. We hang up after a few minutes of talking. The conversation – idea of having communicated with somebody new made my day and it sure made her day (her post).

I cannot stop from wondering how easily all that happened and that too in such a short time. Technology no matter how bad some people use it for – there are always good uses of it and connecting people is surely one of the best uses.
